HOPE Youth Corps (HYC) is an organisation that aims to serve lower-income communities through various outreach efforts. Some of these include building/painting/maintaining houses, helping out in orphanages and medical centres, teaching and encouraging people of all ages, along with many other helpful activities.
By giving part of our time to another region, we help to grow a wider community as well as sharing the gospel and putting Jesus' teachings into practice.
There are many HYC programmes going on all throughout the year, you can check those out at the HYC Website. However, there are 2 groups that will be helping out in Papua New Guinea in July 2016. If you are interested in this, please keep reading for more information.
Where and What
Serve in underprivileged communities in Port Moresby itself, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The participants will serve at a clinic doing maintenance work. You will also teach literacy.
spend the first three days in Port Moresby with the HYC group, then you will take a plane ride into the mountains (hence the higher cost) to reach out to isolated communities of our brothers and sisters. You will stay with disciples in the village itself doing maintenance work, teaching English and working on a water project. You will also hike one whole day (one day each way) to go and visit an even more remote village where you will also serve our brothers and sisters and their community.
